2024 Recap
This year has been full of growth, innovation, and transformation! Here's a look at the incredible impact we’ve made together:
• Continued Education: Our bakery, construction, barbering, ESL, and gardening classes continued to equip individuals with life-changing skills. Graduates are now empowered to create a sustainable future for themselves and their families.
• Fog Catchers: In 2024, we introduced large mesh nets that collect water droplets from fog to the community of Manchay. This innovative solution provides water to the community in Manchay’s desert landscape.
• New Courses: We launched specialized tile and ceramics installation training, a highly sought-after skill in Manchay, where tile flooring is essential. The Life Resource Center has also recently started nail technician and balloon-making classes. These courses equip graduates with the expertise to excel in local industries.
• Leadership & Public Speaking: Weekly courses led by Spanish-speaking leaders helped participants develop leadership values and public speaking skills, empowering them to be changemakers in a society needing strong, principled leaders.
• Trips to Peru: Our Canadian team, including C4L founder Jack Neufeld, made two trips to Peru in 2024, where we made new connections and reunited with old friends and partners in Manchay.
• 4th Annual Golf Tournament: The 2024 sold-out tournament brought together 128 golfers and 27 sponsors. Together with our partners—TeamUp and the Okotoks Food Bank—we raised funds for various initiatives in Calgary and Peru.
• New Construction Builds: Construction graduates worked diligently to rebuild a home after it burned down, and other graduates built a fourth floor of the Life Resource Center to make room for extra classrooms for children's education during the day and courses for adults at night.
